Our mission is to uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed in New York. We bring free legal services directly to community members at host non-profit organizations throughout the city. We break down the legal barriers to their success, enabling them to flourish and embody the full persons they are intended to be.

The Civil Legal Aid Crisis

ABOUT US

VOLUNTEER

WE GO TO COMMUNITIES IN NEED WITH ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TOOLS AGAINST POVERTY: THE LAW.

Civil legal aid can be life-changing. It can help people remain in their homes, apply for work, obtain subsistence income, access health care and more.

But for those who need it most, legal help can be hard to find. Rather than wait for low-income and homeless New Yorkers to find us, we take our services directly to soup kitchens and shelters, overcoming the obstacles of lack of information, geographic location, and health and mobility concerns.

We conduct one of the only mobile legal aid desks in the city, as well as various “Know Your Rights” seminars, at these host non-profit organizations:

Bowery Mission Men's Center

Bowery Mission Tribeca Campus
