Experienced Volunteer Training - Public Benefits

Come join OHLS attorneys as we discuss an important topic which affects many of our clients: Public Benefits: Eligibility and Application Process.

The training will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, from 6-8 P.M.

We will be giving an overview of different needs-based public benefits, such as public assistance, cash assistance, and food stamps. We will also describe the eligibility and application process for each of these benefits, and address issues which affect special populations, like those who are undomiciled as well as the immigrant community.

This is a great introduction into different needs-based assistance upon which many of our most vulnerable and poorest clients depend. The volunteer will learn:

  • How to determine different sources of client income

  • Issue spot for clients who need assistance with applying for, or fixing, a benefits case

  • Help clients determine options with regard to state and city-based housing vouchers (since most of these depend upon an open, active, and accurate public benefits case)

  • Become familiar with our list of Benefits Referrals and resources.

CLE credit pending.

Training materials and zoom link will be emailed to all registrants prior to the training.
